Don't see Lesbos only as a handful of tourist spots. This island offers a grand Aegean story waiting to be discovered, with its historic castles, traditional stone villages, thousands of years of natural heritage, local cuisine, and beaches that each feel different.
AEGEAN RIDE Lesbos Discovery Tour brings together a variety of experiences over three days along a special route stretching from the north to the west and south of the island.
This tour is not merely a trip where you take photos and move on; it is a comprehensive island experience in which you will closely get to know Lesbos' varied landscapes, traditions, history, and daily life.
After the sea voyage from Ayvalık, we meet our guide at Mytilene Port and head towards the northeast of the island.
Our first stop is Mandamados, known for its traditional ceramics, local products and its famous yogurt with honey. Here we visit the Church of the Archangel Taxiarchis, one of the important centers of faith in the Orthodox world. After getting to know the impressive architecture of the church and the special depiction of Archangel Michael, we have free time to explore the village's local flavors.
Then we continue to the famous Petra, with the Church of Our Lady of Glykofilousa built on a huge rock rising from the middle of the sea. Reaching the church by about 114 steps, you can enjoy the unique Aegean view from this point and explore Petra's beach and traditional market.
The last stop of the day is Molyvos, one of the most impressive settlements of Lesbos. We take a pleasant walk in this beautiful town famous for its stone houses, cobbled narrow streets, historic castle, traces of traditional Ottoman heritage and romantic harbor. In the afternoon we check into our hotel, and in the evening we have free time to explore Molyvos's restaurants and seaside atmosphere.
Accommodation: Molyvos or Petra
After breakfast, we head towards the western coast of Lesvos. We arrive in Sigri to explore the Petrified Forest, one of the island's most unique natural heritages.
With trees that are approximately 20 million years old, this area is an important geological heritage site in the world and offers a unique experience for nature and science enthusiasts. At the Natural History Museum in Sigri, we learn about the formation process of the region and the story of the petrified forest.
Then we explore the village of Sigri, known for its traditional fishing harbour, quiet beach and historic castle. On the western coast of the Aegean, in this small settlement that feels far removed from time, we take photo stops and a lunch break.
After our tour, we head towards the center of Lesvos. After settling into the hotel, we have free time to explore the island's capital at our own pace, go shopping and enjoy Aegean cuisine in local restaurants.
Accommodation: Lesvos Center
After breakfast at our hotel, we check out with our luggage and set off towards the south coast of the island.
The most enjoyable stop of the day is Vatera Beach, one of the longest and most well-known beaches on Lesbos. We have free time to enjoy the sea and sun at Vatera, famous for its beach stretching for kilometers, its clear waters and its natural beauty.
We can have lunch at the traditional tavernas along the shore, relax in the calm atmosphere of the Aegean, and spend the last day of our journey enjoying the sea.
At the scheduled time, we leave Vatera and head to Mytilene Port. After completing our passport and customs procedures at the port, we board our return ferry to Ayvalık.
With this, we complete our three-day exploration of Lesbos, which took us from the island's historic villages to the natural heritage of its west, and from its northern coasts to its southern shores.
Important: Participants must be present at the port before the ferry departure times and follow the times announced by the guide for passport procedures.
